Brandon Hines and Steve Alsacker led the Midwest Modified make-up feature field to the green flag and Hines quickly grabbed the lead with Alsacker and Johnson on his tail. After a quick caution for Mike Brenny’s spin, Alsacker grabbed the lead while Stan Thom and Hines battled for second. Johnson challenged Thom for third with Bud Martini and Jason Hall on their rear bumpers. Johnson took third and quickly passed Hines for second and Martini followed him into third. Following another caution, Alsacker led Hines and Johnson, who quickly swiped second from Hines. Martini and Andy Jones then dropped Hines back to fifth about the same time Johnson passed Alsacker for the lead. Martini slipped by Alsacker a short time later and Jones grabbed third from Alsacker after a side-by-side duel and Dustin Nelson then put Alsacker back to fifth. Johnson fought off several advances by Martini, who eventually lost the runner-up spot to Jones. Martini then spun out and continued going but not before the yellow flew. Jones tried to pass Johnson after the final restart but had to settle for second
